Postdoc in Human Rights in East and South-East Asia

Applications open for a two-year appointment as postdoc in Human Rights in East and South-East Asia. The placement of the position is to be divided between the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies and the Division of Human Rights.

The candidate needs to have written a Ph.D. thesis with a focus on some aspect of Human Rights in East and South-East Asia. Very good and documented knowledge of English is required as well as relevant knowledge in an Asian language, depending on the research project. Special qualifications are previous research and/or a project plan related to the research areas at the Division of Human Rights and the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies, in particular the role of civil society in authoritarian contexts, minority rights, economic and social rights, sustainable development and human rights, digital developments and human rights, freedom of speech, and academic freedom.

The person employed is expected to work independently but should also cooperate with other researchers within the fields of Human Rights Studies and East and South-East Asian studies. The postdoctoral fellow should participate in, and contribute to, the research environment through active participation in research seminars and other research-related activities within these fields, contribute with their own research within these fields, as well as contribute to the development of the specific research environment focusing on Human Rights in East and South-East Asia. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to take part in organising workshops, be in charge of seminars, and contribute to the development of research applications. The postdoctoral fellow is also expected to take part in teaching at the B.A. and master’s levels. These tasks require the postdoctoral fellow to have a high level of presence at the workplace. Teaching, supervision, and other administrative tasks comprise a maximum of 20% of the position.
